Dona Paula Beach :
Dona paula is located on the scenic headland between the Zuari and Mandovi rivers. It is named after Dona Paula de Menezes, whose tombstone can be seen at the chapel in Cabo.
Several stories and legends are associated with Dona Paula de Menezes, some say that she was daughter of the Viceroy, who threw herself off the nearby cliff, when she was not allowed to get married to a local fisherman named Gaspar Dias.
Others believe that she was a virtuous wife of a nobleman, while still others think that
she was a lady in waiting to the Viceroy's wife and also that she was a mistress of the viceroy. The various myths associated to Dona Paula has earned it the epitaph of "Lover's Paradise".
The Dauna Paula Bay is located at a spectacular site, where Goa's two most famous rivers Zuari and Mandovi meet the Arabian Sea and is an important tourist attraction.
Ferry service is available between Dona Paula Jetty and Mormugao, except during the monsoons.
Water-scooter and boat rides are also available.
Near the ferry jetty on a small outcorp of a rock is the beautiful sculputre of a couple named
"Image of India", made by Baroness Yrsa von Leistner. The statue shows man facing towards the
west, while the woman faces the east It signifies that the man is looking back towards the past,
while the woman towards the nations future.
On western most tip of the peninsula is the Cabo Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor of Goa.
Nearby is the Institute of Oceanography, one of the premiere scientific institution of the country.
